This analysis is based on closing-price data as of October 16, 2026. Whether you're researching 4dmedical (4DX) on the ASX or learning how to read stock charts, here are objective support, resistance and technical invalidation levels built from the RSI, MACD and ATR indicators.

4dmedical closed at $4.09, 45.8% below its $7.55 52-week high and 192.1% above the $1.40 low. The two-year chart is still a broad sideways range after the April 2026 peak and the May drop, with ADX at 14.8 registering no trend. Inside that range, the stock has spent the past week testing the lower edge of its September swing: it fell to $3.80 on October 14, then recovered to close just above the 20-day line (+0.1%) and 6.1% above a flattening SMA60. The pullback has kept price above the 60-day line and the 90-day anchored VWAP, and OBV shows a bullish divergence at the October 14 low — but MACD remains below its signal line, SMA5 sits under SMA20, and relative strength is fading, so this is a pullback that has steadied rather than one that has resumed upward.

① Price & Moving Averages

4DX price, moving averages, Bollinger Bands and anchored VWAP — 90 days

The two-year chart sets the frame: after the April 2026 peak and a sharp May decline, price has moved sideways for five months, and the SMA60 at $3.856 is close to flat rather than rising. On the two-year Fibonacci (Apr 10 high $6.80 to Apr 30 low $4.01), the 0% anchor at $4.01 sits just below the close and the 23.6% retracement at $4.67 is the first overhead reference — note that price traded well below the $4.01 anchor during the summer, so it is a reference line, not a level that has held.

On the 90-day view, the swing from the September 8 low ($3.35) to the September 18 high ($4.31) still frames the structure. The stock was also covered in the previous issue, based on a $4.05 close on October 9. Since then it rose to $4.22 on October 12, fell 6.86% to $3.80 on October 14 — 6.2% below the October 9 close and below the 23.6% and 38.2% retracements ($4.08 and $3.94) — and then rose 7.37% on October 15 to $4.08. Friday's $4.09 close re-established price above SMA20 by about half a cent ($4.09 against $4.085); the close above SMA60 was re-established on October 15, after a single session beneath it.

The October 14 low reached the zone where the 50% retracement ($3.83), the 90-day anchored VWAP ($3.848), the lower Bollinger Band ($3.824) and the SMA60 ($3.856) cluster, and the small September 18 gap on the 90-day chart has now been filled (no unfilled gaps remain on this frame). Bollinger band width has narrowed to 12.76%, which describes compressing volatility inside the range rather than a direction. No company announcement was identified for the October 14 or October 15 moves.

② Volume

4DX volume with 20-day average — 90 days

Friday's 3,058,146 shares were 0.85× the 20-day average of 3,617,784. The broader ASX was quiet for most of the week (universe median volume ratios of roughly 0.62× to 0.89×, with 1.28× on October 15), so relative to the market Friday's bar was close to ordinary participation.

The two large bars of the week did not come with heavy volume. The October 14 decline of 6.86% printed about 0.86× the average — around 1.1× after allowing for that day's quiet market — and the October 15 recovery of 7.37% came on about 1.02×, or roughly 0.8× market-adjusted. Neither side showed conviction: the drop was not a heavy-volume break and the rebound was not a heavy-volume reclaim. The 20-day volume average has continued to drift lower through September and October.

③ MACD

4DX MACD 12-26-9 — 90 days

MACD crossed below its signal line on October 8 and has stayed there: MACD is 0.0585, the signal 0.0798 and the histogram −0.0213. Both lines remain above zero, so the reading is a loss of upside momentum within a still-positive configuration, not a move into negative territory. The histogram has stayed small through the October 14–15 swing; a narrowing back toward zero and a fresh crossover would be the momentum confirmation that the pullback is ending, while a widening negative histogram would point to a deeper retracement.

④ RSI

4DX RSI 14 with overbought and oversold zones — 90 days

RSI(14) is 53.0 (52.9 on the two-year frame), close to the 50 midline after a dip on October 14 and a recovery the next day. No RSI divergence is flagged on either frame this week. The oscillator has stayed between the oversold and overbought zones throughout the September–October swing, which fits the ranging ADX reading: momentum is balanced, not stretched in either direction.

⑤ Mansfield Relative Strength

4DX Mansfield relative strength versus the S&P/ASX 200 — 90 days

Mansfield RS versus the S&P/ASX 200 reads +10.5%, above zero with a falling slope tag. Against the prior week (+11.854) it is 1.32 points lower, and against a month ago (+23.255) it is 12.72 points lower — positive but slowing on both horizons. On the two-year chart RS has compressed from the very high readings of late 2025 to modest levels near zero, so the stock is still outperforming the index, but by a narrowing margin rather than as a leader.

⑥ ATR & ADX

4DX ATR 14 and ADX 14 — 90 days

ATR(14) is $0.264, or 6.4% of price, and it ticked up with the October 14–15 swing. That places the 1×ATR reference at $3.83 and the 2×ATR technical invalidation level at $3.56, 12.9% under the close — the 2×ATR line almost coincides with the 78.6% retracement of the September swing ($3.56). ADX is 15.1 (14.8 on the two-year frame), below the 20 threshold: there is no directional regime, and the moving-average positions are forming inside a range rather than confirming a trend.

⑦ OBV

4DX on-balance volume with 20-day average — 90 days

On the 90-day frame OBV is tagged early accumulation — above its MA20 with a flat slope — and a bullish OBV divergence is flagged: price made a lower close of $3.80 on October 14 against $3.99 on September 28, while OBV made a higher reading (−5,469,587 versus −6,797,638). On the two-year frame OBV is also tagged early accumulation, 1.37% above its MA20 with a flat slope, and no divergence is flagged there. The 90-day OBV-to-MA20 gap of 226.04% reflects an MA20 close to zero and is not a measure of strength. A divergence is the possibility of a low, not a confirmation; it would gain weight with a close above the $4.31 swing high, and it would be undone by a close below $3.80.

Bull Case vs Bear Case

Bull Case

  • Close above SMA20 ($4.085) and SMA60 ($3.856); the October 14 dip below SMA60 lasted one session
  • The October 14 low came at the $3.82–$3.85 cluster: 50% retracement, 90-day aVWAP, lower Bollinger Band and SMA60
  • Bullish OBV divergence: $3.80 on Oct 14 below $3.99 on Sep 28, with OBV higher (−5,469,587 vs −6,797,638)
  • The October 14 decline came on below-average volume (about 0.86×), not a heavy-volume break
  • Mansfield RS still positive at +10.5% versus the S&P/ASX 200
  • Price above both anchored VWAPs — $3.361 (Aug 1, 2025) and $3.848 (Jul 17, 2026)

Bear Case

  • MACD below its signal since the Oct 8 dead cross, histogram −0.0213
  • SMA5 ($4.054) below SMA20 ($4.085) — the short-term ordering is not in place
  • ADX 15.1 — no directional regime; the two-year chart has ranged since May
  • Relative strength slowing: −1.32 points on the week, −12.72 on the month
  • The October 15 rebound came on roughly 0.8× market-adjusted volume; Friday's bar was 0.85×
  • ATR 6.4% of price — 2×ATR invalidation 12.9% below; 52-week high 45.8% above

Scenarios

ScenarioProbabilityPathTrigger / Invalidation
Pullback resolves upward 30% Price stays above the $4.085 SMA20, SMA5 turns back above SMA20, and a retest of the $4.31 September high follows; the OBV divergence is confirmed and the MACD histogram returns toward zero. Trigger: a daily close above $4.31 with volume above its average. Invalidation: a daily close below $3.94.
Range continues 45% ADX below 20 is taken at face value: price oscillates between the $3.82–$3.85 support cluster and the $4.31–$4.35 zone (September high and upper Bollinger Band) while the bands stay narrow. Trigger: daily closes between $3.82 and $4.35 with ADX below 20. Invalidation: a close outside either edge.
Pullback deepens 25% The MACD dead cross receives price confirmation: a close below the $3.80 October 14 low and the SMA60/aVWAP cluster, undoing the OBV divergence, then a move toward the $3.72 61.8% retracement and the $3.56 2×ATR level. Trigger: a daily close below $3.80. Invalidation: recovery to a daily close above $4.09.

What to Watch

Conclusion

4dmedical closed at $4.09 after a volatile week that took it to $3.80 on October 14 and back to the 20-day line, with the low landing on the $3.82–$3.85 cluster of SMA60, 90-day aVWAP and 50% retracement, and a bullish OBV divergence at that low. Against that, MACD remains below its signal, SMA5 sits under SMA20, relative strength is slowing, ADX of 15.1 registers no trend, and neither the drop nor the rebound came on heavy volume — a pullback that has steadied inside a two-year range, not one that has resumed upward. The objective line beneath it is the 2×ATR technical invalidation level at $3.56, 12.9% below the close; a daily close under it would undo the September swing structure described here, while the $3.80 October 14 low and the $3.85 cluster are the nearer shelves.
